Above are the most current character designs for the park rangers, Jo as a wolf, and the forest spirit.

Earlier designs of Jo as both a human and wolf used to have more realistic proportions. The final design leaned into the a more expressive form that still had some realism, but allowed for a wider range of emotions.

The Basin Creek Forest Spirit went through a handful of differing designs. Some earlier designs had him as a huge black wolf with smoke rising from its fur. The more current designs leaned more into a wolf formed from smoke itself to give off a more ethereal feel. The only part of the design that stayed the same through the entire process was the glowing yellow eyes.

An incredibly early design for the ranger station. This was drawn in a sketchbook with pencil, pen and markers.
